Project Description

As a design-build HMS Installed 3 new 750 KW emergency power generators at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, HMS relocated an existing 1,000 KW generator on-site to provide backup power for the hospital’s critical power needs while we installed the new generators.  With the installation of the new generators, construction of a new generator room, environmentally friendly exhaust system, and switch gear the hospital is now able to perform monthly maintenance and do annual load bank testing without having to rent generators or load banks. In the event of a power outage, the new system provides backup power to all of the hospital’s emergency circuits within 8 seconds. ent to develop the work plan. Rough in included core drilling, fire stopping, and documentation of penetrations for all new cabling. Over 2,700 drops were tested, terminated, and certified to TIA/EIA standards. This project was done in multiple phases to minimize the impact to patients and staff. Infectious control measures were implemented throughout construction activities. HMS coordinated over 1500 telecom outages with TAMC and SBHC Telcom Management.
