Job Description: The Project Manager at HMS Construction is responsible for planning, managing, overseeing, and directing all assigned projects. The ideal candidate will develop and lead strong project teams, ensuring quality output, meeting customer expectations, managing scope, delivering on time, and staying within budget.
Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for overall project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, and cost.)
  • Direct management of the entire project
  • Responsible for project success
  • Acts as the single point of contact between HMS and the customer regarding project activities
  • Ensures all project activities are performed within the guidelines of a project to stay within budget limits
  • Strives to improve the project’s margin
  • Tracks the invoicing and receipt of all payments, maintains scope and forecasts Cash Flow for project
  • Reviews and updates financial forecast monthly
  • Manages customer interfaces related to project outages and scheduling
  • Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its lifecycle
  • Ensures the project meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations
  • Reports project performance data as required to management and customers
  • Organizes project documentation using sound records management methodologies
  • Detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, and the like
  • Oversees process for changes orders and other circumstances that may result in changing the scope of work and the corresponding payment for such changes
  • Makes decisions in such a way that risk is controlled, costs contained, and uncertainty minimized
  • Reviews and approves all expenditures for each assigned project; ensure all costs are applied to the proper project and phase code
  • Visits assigned project sites periodically to ensure company and project standards are being achieved.
  • Monitors contract compliance for each project to ensure the company is protected regarding liabilities matters and liens (collection matters)
  • Ensure proper close-out procedures have been followed and documented including quality control, punch list, and Accounting notified
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of project management experience in commercial/mixed-use construction.
  • Understanding of engineering in electric power.
  • Field experience coordinating with construction management.
  • Extensive knowledge of project scheduling, bids, take-offs, change orders, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and assist in winning projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to run a profitable portfolio.
  • Exceptional initiative, execution, and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Exceptional analytical, motivational, and leadership skills.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management is strongly preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician’s license is a plus.
